World of Horror with Mom & Mac
Mother and son team Mom and Mac discuss, analyze, dissect and explore international horror movies. Conversations are casual but spoiler-heavy. We take turns choosing a genre or subgenre of horror and pairing an international film with an American one. Past episodes have included: Funny Games, One Missed Call, Let the Right One In/Let Me In. Genres we have covered are Animal Attack (BOAR from Australia and TREMORS); Creepy Kids (GOODNIGHT, MOMMY from Austria and ORPHAN); Battle Royale-type films (BATTLE ROYALE from Japan and THE BELKO EXPERIMENT); Haunted Houses (THE HOUSE AT THE END OF TIME from Venezuela and BEETLEJUICE). We recorded this a few months back and then both had some life stuff come up, but we hope it is worth the wait!
This film is a classic domestic melodrama that has inspired Bong Joon-ho, among others, and is one batshit crazy ride.
From IMDb: A composer and his wife are thrown into turmoil when a housemaid becomes more than they bargained for. (Composer??? That's overstating it a little bit--Mac & me)
This film has everything. It's a cautionary tale, a cinematographic masterpiece, high melodrama, and a film that includes the mention of more rats than the film THE DEPARTED. Oh, TW for rat death...and child death.
